This years season starts on Thursday 24th April 2014 with the Sprint and Endurance Experienced riders session. This session for one week only on the Thursday due to Fotball Matches that week which have cut our program. After the first week the sessions revert to the usual format as detailed on the Calendar of the Website. Also note on the 24th and 25th April there is a Holiday club at the track open to all riders U16. Details fro this from Norman Bassett as per his e-mail address on the Calendar tab.  Details for each days sessions are as follows;

This session is for Under 18's riders and Novice/less experienced riders of any age. The structure of the session is as follows;

6.15pm......... Riders in Group 1 go on to the track. This group are riders who have ridden the track before and have passed through the novice group and so have been deemed competient enough to progress. This includes U18's and adult riders. This group will usually be run by Martyn Shaw. Riders need to be at the track in enough time to sign on and get a bike if appropriate so be there in good time to get on the track at the 6.15pm start time. The emphasis of this session is to learn new skills designed towards race situations. This is not a hard training session.

7pm............  Riders in Group 2 to to the track. This group is for first time and novice riders of age age. This group will; be coach led by Dave Latham. Riders to arrive in good time to sign on and get a bike if appropriate. The bike sizing can take time so suggest you turn up around 6.30pm to allow enough time for this to take place so you are ready to go on to the track at 7pm.

Cost of session....  U18's   £3

                           O18's   £5

                           Bike Hire for Everyone is £2.50.

This session is for more experienced riders of any age. The session starts at 6.30pm with the warm up. After the warm up the groups are split in to Sprint and Endurance. The lead coaches for this night are Steve Cronshaw ( Sprint) and Chris Pyatt ( Endurance ).

Prices for the session are as for Monday.

This is  Lyme RC session and only open to their members.

From the 1st May this is track league night. The Freewheelers league starts at 6.10pm. Riders please arrive from 5.45pm to sign on. This league is open to riders who have competed before and riders who are first timers who are between 10 and 16 years of age. Riders under 10 who have never been on the track before must attend the Friday sessions to be accredited to attend the league.

Freewheelers riders ride their own bike which must be in a good working order. They must wear a helmet and approriate clothing for the session.

Cost of the league is £2 per rider. The riders are split in to 3 leagues with overall prizes at the end of the season being awarded.  On the final Thursday of each month there is a Go Ride Race Night with individual prizes for these nights being awarded at the end of that night. The cost of this night is £3.

You do not have to be in a club to race in this league.

The Main league starts at 7.20pm and is for fixed wheel bikes only. Riders must have a British Cycling licence or can pay for a day licence ( this can be expensive though).

You do not have to register or be part of an affiliated club to ride however we do encourge riders to get their clubs to affiliate to the Association ( just £35 a season) or they can affiliate individually for £5. This gives discounts on race entry fee.

Full details of the main league on the Britsih Cycling Website

This is the Freewheelers night and for U16's. Riders to turn up at 6.15pm. The inital sessions will be run on the grassed area outside the tracks gates to get the skills of the riders to the correct standard to ride the track. As stated above new riders under 10 years of age must go through this session before they can ride the league. Lead coach on this day is Norman Bassett.

Cost of the session is £2.  Riders to bring their own bikes and to wear suitable clothing and a helmet.

There maybe times when sesions will need to be cancelled due to football matches taking place. Please keep an eye on the website and Facebook page for these cancellations.

AND  if it is wet there will be no session.

If you have any questions please contact Chris Pyatt on the e-mail shown on the contact us section.

Hi All, A Free Offer to one rider who has ridden the Newcastle track from Steve Cronshaw……..
Steve has completed his British Cycling Level-3 core course and is now undertaking his L3 Track Coaching module. Steve needs a rider over-18 of any ability level that wants to improve as an Endurance Track Rider (not a Sprinter). As part of his BC coaching qualification he can:-
Establish performance benchmarks, set short-, medium– and long-term goals and devise an annual plan for that rider for next year. He would ask the rider to complete a standard BC 5-page Rider Profile and Lifestyle Audit within the next 7 days to act his brief to enable Steve to devise an annual plan for that rider.

Steve would not be providing training session plans as part of this free offer, the annual plan is more of an overview of how they can structure the year and a strategy of how they can try to achieve their objectives.
If you are interested and over-18 then private message Steve on fb. Steve Cronshaw

Do you think anyone would be interested in these? I have 8 - 10 tickets available. If so, any chance you could post the following? Thanks, Nick.

I have a few spare tickets for the Ghent 6 Day track race on Friday. Mark Cavendish is paired with Belgian 6 Day Superstar Iljo Keisse in his first '6' for seven years.

The event has been sold out for some time and Friday is the most popular night . These are proper seated tickets with a 22€ face value.

The price is £18.50 per ticket + recorded delivery postage. However, unless I can get them posted in the morning, I would rather meet the purchaser either in central Ghent or outside the track.

If interested, please call Nick Jeggo on 07967 452688.
