NEW SEASON TRAINING and RACING NOW ON CALENDAR for 2013  Posted 29/03/2013

This years calendar of racing and Training is now on the site. At the moment it says 2012 although it should say 2013 which will be rectified in a few days. The dates shown are correct for this year. Mayor changes for this year are as follows;

Monday Night Training

This session is for two groups of riders. The first is for Under 18's who have rode the track before. The emphasis of the sesssion is based on race skills based around the youth omnium series.  Riders are asked to be at the track at 6pm to sign on and the session starts at 6.15pm. There will be breaks throughout the night with the session due to finish around 8.30pm.

The second group is novice and less experienced riders of any age group. This session is based on learning the basics of track riding to make the rider proficient and safe in all aspects of track riding. This session starts at 7pm and from this time will work in and out with the first group. Riders are asked to attend at the track from 6.30pm to sign on and if required to be fitted with a bike. This session will run until 8.30pm.

Fee's are as follows;

£3 for to all persons 18 years and under

£5 for all over 18 years

£2 for bike hire across all age groups.

Tuesday Night Training

This session is for riders who have either being progressed from the Monady session or are experienced in track riding/racing. The session is split in to two groups with one for sprinetrs and one for endurance. The riders are requested to attend from 6pm to sign on and the warm up starts at 6.30pm. Fee's are as Monday.

Freewheelers Racing at Track League

This year their will be a lower age limit for this league to new riders in that every rider must be at least 6 years of age. Riders below this age group can ride if they rode last year. All riders competing must be able to ride a lap of the track inaided. All riders aged 6 and over who rode last years league are welcome to ride. Any new riders aged 6-10 years of age are now required to attend the Go Ride Grass Track Training on the Friday night which will learn them the necessary skills to race on the track. Any rider aged over 10 can ride the league without going to the Friday session however we would recommend that they attend both sessions.

The Freewheelers League starts at 6.10pm so riders are asked to be there just before 6pm to register and sign on. The fee's for this league are £2 per rider with the fee being £3 on the last Thursday of ech month when the event is a Go Ride Race Night where medals are awarded.

Track League

This will be run under the same format as last year. Warm up starts at 7pm. A new event will be held on the last Track League on the 5th September. The Roy Swinnerton Memorial 10 Mile Scratch Race will be held with the winner taking a first prize of £50.

Friday Go Ride Session

For the first 5 weeks this session will be held on the grass outside the track gates. This is for riders aged under 16 and will teach them the skills required to race on the track. All new riders to the track aged 6-10years are required to attend these sessions prior to racing at the Freewheelers League. All news riders aged 11-16 years are advised to attend these sessions to improve there skills prior to riding the league.

Lets hope the rains stays away this year and we have a great session.
